Health care

Healthcare is a Human Right
Watch

Health care is a human right, and the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (Obamacare) made huge strides in guaranteeing that everyone had access to health care insurance. The Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) was modeled after legislation from Pennsylvania and is available to every child in the Commonwealth.

Medicare, the ACA, and CHIP are landmark federal programs that provide insurance for millions.

However, the Trump Administration has been trying to unravel the Affordable Care Act and make it harder for you to get health insurance.

This Administration has drastically narrowed the window for enrollment in the health care marketplace, and now you must enroll by December 15th to get insurance for 2019. They have also slashed the marketing budget to let you know about this shortened window, and denied funding to nonprofit health care navigators that guide you through the process of picking the best plan.

If you need health care insurance on the ACA marketplace – get to healthcareforPA.com to find all the information you need.

ACA events

Representative Dan Frankel and I are outraged at the lack of federal support for ACA enrollment, and so we have hosted our own series of enrollment events. You are invited to attend, free of charge, an open house on insurance. We will have UPMC, Highmark, and nonprofit health care navigators and the PA Department of Insurance on hand to help you get the best plan for you and your family.

We held one of these events last week, and all of our attendees left with a better understanding of their health insurance plan.

We are hosting another on December 11 at 5pm at the Oakland Career Center. Bring a photo-ID and proof of income, and we’ll help you find an affordable health insurance plan that works for you.
