Upcoming Community Forum

Community ForumCommunities across our area continue to deal with the growing problem of prescription and illegal drug abuse.  Our area is not immune to the negative effects of drug abuse.  The impact of drug abuse is felt at some level in each and every neighborhood throughout the region.

To gather information about what is being done and how we can meet the challenges regarding prescription and illegal drug abuse, I am hosting a community forum on Saturday, April 5, 2014.

Pennsylvania’s Attorney General Kathleen Kane and other law enforcement officials and organizations will be on-hand to connect residents with the resources they need to address the problem.

The forum will begin at 1 p.m. at the Penn Hills Library located at 1037 Stotler Road, in Penn Hills.  The event will include dialogue between residents, service providers and law enforcement officials.  There will be a full discussion about:

  • Recent tragic increase in overdose-related deaths;
  • Misuse of prescription narcotic drugs;
  • New drugs targeting younger users;
  • Dangers associated with these drugs;
  • Strategies to help identify signs and symptoms associated with drug abuse.

I look forward to this opportunity to hear from experts and gain expertise about the dangers of prescription and illegal drug use and what can be done to combat the problem.  I hope you will be able to join us.
