COSTA HONORED FOR SERVICE TO FIRE COMPANIES
PENN HILLS, September 11, 2007 – State Sen. Jay Costa
(D-Allegheny) was recently honored with the “Service Award” by the
Western Pennsylvania Firemen’s Association at its 2007 Convention,
which was held at the Universal Fire Company in Penn Hills.
The Service Award is presented each year to a legislator or official
who has distinguished him or herself in service to fire companies.
The association President, John Palcey, presented the award to
Senator Costa at a ceremony on August 14.
“I am honored and humbled by this recognition from the Western
Pennsylvania Firemen’s Association,” Costa said. “The Service Award
is of special significance to me because I have always worked hard
to assist the fire companies in my district. I will continue to work
with all departments that I represent to ensure that they have the
tools that they need to continue to protect our citizens.”
In addition, Rich Leone, president of the Universal Fire Company,
presented Senator Costa with a plaque in appreciation of the
Senator’s support of the convention, which was the 114th Annual
event.
“I am pleased that the Western Pennsylvania Firemen’s Association
chose the Universal Fire Company to host this year’s Convention, and
I commend Rich Leone and all the people at Universal on a job well
done,” Costa said. “It was a pleasure to host this fine organization
in the 43rd District, and I hope that they are able to return very
soon.”
